DVDCollector is a free service which maintains a large database of DVD technical information. With multiple versions of movies being releaseed onto DVD its gotten difficult to keep track of which ones you own or would like to own. Widescreen or full? Anamorphic projection or static? DTS or Dolby Surround? The DVDCollector database tracks this so you don't have to. DVDCollector also lets you track all the DVDs you own as well as all the DVDs you want. You can add DVDs to you collection by title, by searching other collections, or even by barcode. Our Wishlist feature lets you maintain a prioritized list of all the DVDs you'd like to buy as well a buying them easily from Amazon.com and moving them into your collection. Got a guilty pleasure you don't want to share? DVD collections and wishlists can be marked private on a movie by movie basis or for all movies listed by a user. The DVDs currently listed in the database are decided by our users' collections. Each time a movie is added to a collection we try to look it up in our database. If we don't find it we'll add it automatically. We attempt to determine DVD technical information such as aspect ratios, audio tracks, and subtitles. Any information we can't find can be added into the database by the user. And if you don't want to enter it or just don't know what it is another user with the same DVD can enter it later and the information is shared for all to use. Future work is planned to allow users to trade used DVDs as the upgrade their collection. You'll also be able to keep top ten list of your favorite movies that you can share with your DVDCollector buddies. Want to find out what you friends have been adding into their collections? Check out their recent additions. Find other collections similar to your own for suggestions of movies you might like. The service is free so go ahead and create a user account. Give it a try and see what you think. Let use know, too. Feedback is always appreciated. |
